Preparation

The client is asked to remove their shoes and socks and sit in a comfortable chair.

  1. Ionizing Unit: An ionizing unit is placed in the water. This unit emits a low-level electrical current into the water, which generates positively and negatively charged ions.

  2. Feet Soak: The client immerses their feet in the warm, ionized water. As the ions are released into the water, they create an electrolytic reaction.

  3. Ion Exchange: It is believed that this electrolytic reaction helps to ionically cleanse and detoxify the body. Proponents of this therapy claim that the negatively charged ions attract and neutralize positively charged toxins in the body.

  4. Observation: During the treatment, the water may change color, often turning darker or exhibiting other changes. Some practitioners interpret these changes as evidence of the detoxification process.

  5. Relaxation: Clients typically sit and relax during the treatment, which can last anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes.

  6. Post-Treatment: After the session, clients are often encouraged to drink plenty of water to help flush out any toxins that may have been released during the process.
